English Electric KDP10/KDF8 at Midland Bank Birmingham, England, 1965. It was an RCA 501 compatible all-transistor large-scale modular computer created by industrial designer John Vassos. Weighing in at 2.3 tonnes, it utilized pluggable printed circuit board card units, with a high-speed ferrite-core memory expandable from 16k to 260k. An optional drum memory unit could provide up to 1.5 million characters of storage, and up to 63 magnetic tape units could be installed.
